    Washington Association for Pupil Transportation

WAPT was organized in 1976 by a group of transportation supervisors to promote networking and education for transportation supervisors around the state.
Over the last 35 years, the organization has evolved to include all persons involved in pupil transportation. Membership is open to Superintendents, Central Office Administrators, Supervisors, Dispatchers. Driver Trainers, and Shop Personnel.
Affiliate memberships are available to vendors who support the transportation industry.
WAPT serves over 650 members from local School Districts statewide.

Our Purpose

To promote and foster the highest degree of safety and efficiency
in the transportation of school children. To assist members in dealing with common problems, promoting the exchange of ideas concerning the administration and operation of transportation fleets.
To provide forums of education which expand the capabilities and broaden the opportunities for those in pupil transportation.

Our Goals

Provide forums of education, which expand capacities and broaden opportunities for those in the pupil
transportation industry.
Provide an organization within the state to facilitate the exchange of ideas on operations, maintenance and administration and to encourage, develop and promote methods, materials and procedures leading to increased safety and efficiency in the pupil transportation industry.
Encourage cooperation with federal, state and local agencies, organizations, associations and enterprises from the private sector for the continued improvement of the pupil transportation industry.
Monitor and provide input on legislation affecting the statewide pupil transportation program and the members of W.A.P.T.

Education

W.A.P.T., O.S.P.I., and Central Washington University jointly offer a three-year "Pupil Transportation Management Program." The program is comprised of one week in the summer and a major project annually.
Students enrolled in and completing the program are improving skills already used in their position or gaining knowledge that will help in their pursuit of a supervisory position.
